Wilson Language Training® Acquires Acadience® Learning

Integrating Acadience early literacy assessment solutions with Wilson’s Structured Literacy programs creates a robust, comprehensive offering that links best-in-class interim assessment to instruction and learning.

We are thrilled to announce Wilson Language Training’s acquisition of Acadience® Learning, the company founded by Dr. Ruth Kaminski and Dr. Roland Good, the original authors of the early literacy assessment DIBELS, now known as Acadience.

The combination of Acadience assessments with Wilson’s Structured Literacy programs – Fundations®, Wilson Reading System®, and Just Words® – will enable deep instructional cohesion by integrating the decades of research behind our evidence-based literacy curriculum with an easy-to-use formative assessment that already serves almost two million students across the United States and internationally to inform outcomes-based Structured Literacy instruction.

This acquisition reflects the shared dedication to children’s reading success by some of the nation’s leading reading researchers. Together, Dr. Ruth Kaminski and Dr. Roland Good, Co-Founders of Acadience Learning, and Barbara Wilson, Co-Founder of Wilson Language Training®, bring more than 100 years of combined expertise delivering exceptional literacy instruction. Their insights continue to inform all aspects of our work.

Over time, Acadience assessment solutions will be integrated with Wilson’s programs to create a comprehensive offering that links best-in-class formative assessment to research-based instruction and learning.

In the near term, Acadience will continue under its brand name and current customers will continue using the ALO platform and working through their existing customer support channels. Wilson will continue to deliver unparalleled research-driven instruction through our programs. Both curriculum and assessments will remain available as independent resources for districts.

Our mutual longstanding commitment to bring Structured Literacy instruction to educators and students across the country means that we are, above all, an educator-first organization responsive to the ever-evolving realities of the classroom.

We look forward to working with you, our partners, and deeply value your feedback as this work advances.
