Whether the 2020–2021 school year finds teachers and students in classrooms, at home, or in a combination of the two, Wilson’s new Fundations® Virtual Resource Hub, or FUN HUB for short, will be there to support instruction.
A site containing resources to support Fundations teachers, their students, and families, the FUN HUB will launch in August and be available at no charge throughout the 2020-2021 school year to Fundations teachers and schools and districts that implement Fundations in their English Language Arts programs.
The FUN HUB will provide an easy way for teachers to share digital resources through their existing learning management systems, such as Google® Classroom. These resources will include:
- Teacher guidance on remote learning, including assessment, pacing, learning loss, remote lesson planning, and activity ideas;
- Tools such as the new Fundations InterActivities app to help teachers deliver lessons remotely;Guidance and support for families, including video tutorials on how to support Fundations students at home;
- Video demonstrations delivered by Wilson Literacy Specialists that introduce new concepts to students;
- Video instruction for targeted/small-group support; and
- Additional print-based practice packets.
“As schools and districts plan and prepare a range of teaching and learning models for the upcoming and still unpredictable school year, we wanted to make it easy for Fundations teachers to access and share with their students engaging and valuable digital resources aligned with the program,” said Wilson President and Co-founder Barbara Wilson. “Our team is hard at work creating tools and resources that will allow teachers to flexibly provide an effective, ongoing learning environment throughout the school year, whether instruction occurs remotely or in-person, is blended, or shifts during the year, which is critical for students.”
Along with the FUN HUB, we have also developed Fundations At Home Student Packets, which will be available July 1. Customized for each curriculum Level, the packets are designed as a low‐tech, inexpensive solution for students to own a set of manipulatives for remote use. These will also allow them to practice with Fundations materials at home without having to carry Fundations durables to and from school.
In addition to these new virtual and blended resources for Fundations, Wilson will continue to provide resources and materials that were made available this spring at the start of the COVID-19 crisis. These Wilson Reading System® and Just Words® resources are free via the Learning Communities in Wilson Academy.
Keep your eyes open for the unveiling of the Fundations At Home Student Packets on July 1 and the FUN-tastic FUN Hub in late summer!
